The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wendel, Ernest-Antoine Seilliere, and his "cousin" Sophie Boegner, withdrew on Thursday, charges that they had committed libel against one another. Former director of the investment company, Sophie Boegner had complained in June 2008 a financial package that would have allowed some officers to make undue profits. Her complaint, backed by a judicial investigation for "abuse of social good and concealment, no further few months later, had created serious tensions within the family firm of Wendel, Wendel's largest shareholder. These eddies, amplified by an investment setbacks in Saint-Gobain, led last March departure of Jean-Bernard Lafonta, then chairman of the board of Wendel.
